Description

The Cougar HEV (Hardened Engineer Vehicle) 6×6 is a member of the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) family of vehicles. It is capable of transporting personnel and cargo within the current theater of operations. The Cougar HEV 6×6 was designed and manufactured by the American Defense Company Force protection, now a subdivision of General Dynamics. The Cougar HEV 6×6 can be employed in virtually all weather and rugged off-road conditions.

It enables forces to survive when engaged, maintain battlespace awareness, and retain the flexibility to accomplish a variety of missions, including Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), combat engineer, convoy escort/security, direct Close Air Support (CAS), medical support, troop/cargo transport, reconnaissance and mobile command and control. Roughly 7,000 MRAPs were produced for the U.S. military and other national vehicle programs.
