Volunteer

We are currently accepting applications for volunteers. Bring history to life at the Tucson Military Vehicle Museum. See the available positions below.

Volunteers must be willing to work with the general public providing excellent customer service to guests of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

Restoration Volunteer

Assist staff with the assembly/disassembly, repair, repainting, moving, maintenance, and cleaning/dusting of the museum’s vehicle collection. Job requires occasionally strenuous work both indoors and outdoors all year round. Some functions may require the use of personal protective equipment such as dust masks, respirators, and protective clothing which will be provided when needed. Heavy equipment operation and welding experience are a plus.

We are looking for volunteers who are self-starters, willing to learn new skills, work under staff leadership to complete projects in a timely fashion and be willing to help in all stages of restoration. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license, complete and pass a background check, and submit a physician release.

Mechanics Assistant Volunteer

Assist staff with tracking the maintenance needs of working and tour vehicle fleet. Assist in simple vehicle maintenance tasks such as tire fixes and changes, fluid checks and refilling, oil changes, etc. per staff direction. Some functions may require the use of personal protective equipment such as dust masks, respirators, and protective clothing which will be provided when needed. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license, complete and pass a background check, and submit a physician release.

Public Program Volunteer

If you love meeting new people and sharing your knowledge and love of military vehicles and history, this is for you. The museum’s Public Program Volunteers engage with visitors and share information on the collection in short 15-minute talks throughout the day. They also help to inspire young visitors and students with fun hands-on activities. Volunteers must be willing to work with the general public providing excellent customer service to guest of all ages, genders, ethnicities, and backgrounds.
